House Bill 586

AN ACT TO LIMIT THE NUMBER OF BILLS AND THE NUMBER OF RESOLUTIONS PROPOSING TO AMEND THE MISSISSIPPI CONSTITUTION THAT A MEMBER OF THE LEGISLATURE MAY INTRODUCE OR REQUEST THE LEGISLATIVE SERVICES OFFICE OF HIS OR HER RESPECTIVE HOUSE TO DRAFT FOR A REGULAR SESSION OF THE LEGISLATURE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Beginning with the 2000 Regular Session of the Mississippi Legislature, a member of the Senate or House may not introduce, or request the Legislative Services Office of his or her respective house to draft, for a regular legislative session, more than five (5) bills and more than two (2) resolutions proposing to amend the Mississippi Constitution.

The provisions of this section do not apply to appropriation bills.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1999.
